A Moment in Gertrude, with Aesop Fitzroy

2026-04-30T11:45:59+10:00April 15, 2014|

Perfect. I could begin and end this post with that one single word. Honestly, I could not have asked for a better way to celebrate my Gertrude Streetscape etching than with Aesop Smith Street Fitzroy. My work hanging inside 'my' local Aesop store that's in 'my' neighbourhood with 'my' divine Gertrude Street community. There we all were, celebrating a street that is common to all of us, a very unique street and [...]

Doug Moran National Portrait Prize Semi Finalist

2024-10-18T11:09:02+11:00October 10, 2013|

Absolutely gobsmacked at this achievement, and incredibly confused at the same time. Who would have thought a horrifying life changing event could bring so much reward. Nevertheless, I'm going with it and am stoked to be considered for semi finalist. Self Portrait (art and chronic pain) will be heading up to Sydney next week for the next round confirming finalists for the National prize. View all the semi finalists here, read more about [...]

The Greek Australian Cultural League of Melbourne (GACLM) Antipodean Palette 2013

2024-10-18T11:09:02+11:00June 20, 2013|

... and I'm participating, again! This time with two posters I prepared for The Santorini Biennale of Arts, a fabulous competition calling for posters with the theme, Design A Wish for Greece. Sadly it was dumped without explanation (or refunds) and the lovely Vasy Petros coordinating the Antipodean Palette exhibition asked if I'd exhibit the prematurely retired entries. The exhibition aims to support visual arts in the community and to foster a spirit [...]

St Luke's exquisite palette exhibition 2013 My first ever art prize win and how perfect that it's been awarded by people whom I treasure, and people who inspire me, not only with my art my practice but with my life also. Sending out a huge thanks to Louise, David and crew at St. Luke Artist Colourmen and Langridge Artist Supplies. Who would have thought that all that chronic pain could lead to this [...]

The mail can be so nice sometimes. Another wonderful art surprise this week with notice that my Drying Cutlery will be a finalist piece in the Borough of Queenscliffe's 150th Anniversary Art Awards. There are three galleries displaying finalists and mine will be displayed at Tussock Upstairs. This piece came about when I was on a retreat (from the pain ritual) in Hepburn Springs. After my tutorials with Jeff Makin I wanted to [...]

Early Spring for me in Daylesford

2024-10-18T11:09:03+11:00August 11, 2012|

I've heard people say artwork can take on a life of its own...  well now I believe it. Not having been able to make new work for a few years now, somehow my arty life has managed to have fun for both of us. Now, with my Portrait prints of Lynn Savery having crept out of the studio for a recent group show at Steps gallery, and the few remaining Winter Light paintings [...]

Artist’s Materials

Study has been wonderful with Jeff Makin for many reasons, and I intend to resume with it just as soon as I have some reliable capacity so I'm not throwing out my luscious paint and having to clean brushes for a few minutes of activity! One of the very enjoyable aspects of study has been revisiting simplicity. Keep it simple Jeff says and then begins to look around my studio for objects that [...]
